Context
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design, coordination, and implementation of electrical systems for the BRT project, ensuring efficient, reliable, and safe electrical infrastructure for bus transit operations. This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering for transportation or urban infrastructure projects, with experience in power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with project requirements, safety standards, and sustainability goals.
Missions/Main Duties
- Electrical System Design and Development:
- Lead the design and specification of electrical systems for the BRT infrastructure, including power distribution, lighting, signaling, and communication systems.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards, codes, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies, system modeling, and simulations to optimize electrical system performance.
- Coordination with Project Teams:
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering teams to integrate electrical systems with overall project design.
- Interface with utility providers, subcontractors, and vendors to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve technical issues.
- Support the project management team in defining scope, requirements, and schedules for electrical components of the project.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to ensure electrical installations meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, and reports related to electrical systems.
- Ensure that all electrical systems adhere to safety and regulatory requirements, identifying and addressing any compliance issues.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide on-site engineering support during installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical issues, proposing effective solutions to minimize delays and ensure system reliability.
- Oversee corrective actions and modifications as needed to meet project standards and operational requirements.
- Sustainability and Innovation:
- Promote sustainable practices in electrical design, aiming for energy-efficient solutions and optimal use of resources.
- Evaluate and recommend advanced technologies to enhance system reliability, energy efficiency, and operational safety.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of electrical design, changes, and testing results.
- Provide regular reports on progress, issues, and technical recommendations to the Engineering Manager and Project Director.
- Assist in preparing project documentation, including as-built drawings, operation manuals, and maintenance guidelines.
Profile/Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering for large infrastructure projects, preferably in transportation, BRT, or urban transit systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, lighting, and control systems specific to transportation infrastructure.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification.
- Experience with sustainable electrical designs and energy-efficient technologies.
- Knowledge of project management principles and tools.
Working Conditions
- This role will primarily be based on-site at the BRT project location, with occasional office-based work as required.
- Extended hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines or conduct on-site inspections and commissioning activities
