Job Description

Grains Trader, Wheat, Feed Grains, Agricultural Commodities, Physical, Middle East, South-East Asia, South Asia, Bangladesh, Location; UAE Dubai:

We are currently working with an established trading house, based in Dubai, who are seeking a self-motivated grains/oilseeds trader to join their operations. The candidate would be responsible to ensure a streamlined and smoothly run workflow between procurement and sales function focused on grains & oilseeds (wheat, corn, soybeans & barely) in Middle East, South-East Asia, South Asia (Bangladesh) markets.

Purpose;

  • To identify, approach and establish business relation with strategically important suppliers Black Sea, Baltic, North & South Americas Regions.
  • Construct the marketing plan and needs and communicate and match them with sales team.
  • To secure procurement of wheat, corn, soybeans & barely from Black Sea region, Baltic, North & South Americas in accordance to MEA market according needs and provide the best purchase conditions and market data in coordination with the Commercial Manager.
  • Establish relations with prospective sellers and maintain relations with current ones.
  • Secure backing from Black Sea, Baltic, North & South Americas for government tenders on which the company will participate.
  • Secure procurement of Black sea, Baltic, North & South Americas cargoes such as wheat, corn, soybeans & barely for private sector buyers in countries of company's operations (MEA).
  • Implement aggressive market penetration strategy aligned with company's policies and procedures.
  • To ensure an accurate and regular reporting stream to Commercial Manager regarding the previously mentioned areas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute wheat, corn, soybeans & barely procurement strategy for Black Sea, Baltic, North & South Americas regions.
  • Develop a plan for company's expansion towards Black Sea & South America origination by providing the market research, market analysis, development plan, follow up on progress and continuous update and improvement.
  • Analyze the MEA wheat, corn, soybeans & barely markets to identify new trends and opportunities and match them with procurement possibilities from Black Sea, Baltic, North & South Americas.
  • Negotiate and agree with Commercial Manager on budgets and business development objectives.
  • Conduct meetings with suppliers, market studies and promotion activities towards expanding Black Sea, Baltic, North & South Americas grains & oilseeds procurement book.
  • Constantly liaise with sales team on customers needs in order to meet the required quality and other contractual parameters.
  • Gain continuous industry insight and knowledge of the commodities categories.
  • Correspond to customers needs, design customized trading strategies with purpose of expansion and improvement of procurement conditions.
  • Secure new suppliers.
  • Trade contract and documentation knowledge
  • Cooperate with the other divisions /departments with regard to common activities within the company.
  • Actively participate in building a status of the company as a leading market maker.
  • Proper reporting and alignment on cargo procured, quantity sold, new sellers, new customers obtained, receivables to be collected, align purchases always with inventory management in silos in the countries of company's operations in Middle East, South-East Asia and South Asia (Bangladesh) markets.

Requirements

  • Have at least 8-12+ years of trading (physicals) experience in the grains & oilseeds industry
  • Preference for an existing customer base, entrepreneurial flair and be able to hit the ground running with proactive business development.
  • Must have a very sound understanding of the Import restrictions and/or requirements in the regional markets
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or part of team
  • Must have a commercial knowledge/experience of the bulk shipment supply chain management (regional and global) with risk-based approach
  • Preferably have a basic experience in research or analysis
  • Highly numerate & analytical, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build long term sustainable relationships
  • Currently based in / or willing to relocate to Dubai.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Business or related field required.

Desirable

  • Any related course experience such as GAFTA would be a plus.
