Senior HSE Manager to join our team!
What You'll Be Doing
- Represents the Project/Program Director on all Construction job sites.
- Implements and manages the Health, Safety Management Systems as per clients requirements.
- Advises and assists the senior construction site representative in the establishment and management of safety programs and in identifying and eliminating/controlling any hazards to persons and property.
- Audits and inspects the job site to detect and correct safety risks and hazards
- Reviews risk assessments for upcoming work and provide technical assistance to the safety planning process.
- Assist the HSE Management in developing Safety Performance Indicators and Targets and helps communicate findings to staff and assist in implementation of the mitigation strategies.
- Audits the job accident records and periodically prepares an audit report of these records.
- Represents senior management during safety inspections of the job site by regulatory authorities or company insurance carriers.
- Receives reviews and distributes safety inspection reports with recommended corrective actions.
- Provides oversight to the new hire safety orientation process and other safety related training.
- Participates in Weekly HSE Meetings with Contractors and assists and participates in site safety training
- Advises the Construction Management team on potential hazards at work sites.
- Reviews and advises Construction Management on safety requirements in the Method Statements and Risk Assessment process.
- Verifies proper maintenance, calibration and operation of all safety equipment.
- Verifies agreed safety standards and applicable regulations are enforced by Supervising Consultant/Contractor.
- Responsible for auditing Supervising Consultant and/or oversight of Contractor Project Safety and ensure project is in compliance with Clients Health, safety & Environmental requirements
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- 15+ years of related work experience in the field of Health and Safety. Minimum of 5 years large scale projects experience. Graduate Membership of a recognized international HSE professional body (IOSH, IIRSM, BSP, CSP etc.)
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong assessment and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent ability to design and implement policies.
- Excellent presentation skills for delivery of health and health and safety related training programs.
- High attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations and reporting procedures, as well as good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. In-depth understanding of safety management systems and procedures.
Education/Qualifications
- BSc Degree in Health and Safety or equivalent accredited from a Western University/Organization, diploma and/or equivalent experience and relevant safety related training courses.
- NEBOSH Construction/General Certification or equivalent
