Senior HVAC Design Engineer

Responsibilities

1. Advanced System Design:

- Develop detailed HVAC system designs for commercial, residential, and various types of buildings.

- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork/piping design.

- Ensure energy efficiency and sustainability in system design.

2. Project Management:

- Lead HVAC design projects from concept through completion.

- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (Architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing) to ensure integrated building systems.

- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.

3. Technical Expertise:

- Perform complex calculations and simulations to predict system performance.

- Analyze and troubleshoot existing HVAC systems to improve efficiency and performance.

4. Compliance and Standards:

- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, local building codes).

- Stay updated on new technologies, regulations, and industry trends.

5. Mentorship and Leadership:

- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on technical and professional development.

- Conduct training sessions and workshops for team members.

6. Client Interaction:

- Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored HVAC solutions.

- Prepare and present design proposals, reports, and technical documentation to clients.

7. Site Visits and Supervision:

- Conduct site visits to assess conditions, oversee installation, and ensure adherence to design specifications.

- Address any issues that arise during construction promptly and effectively.

Skills and Qualifications

1. Educational Background:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

- Master's degree or additional certifications (e.g., LEED AP, PE) are advantageous.

2. Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP).

- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.

3. Experience:

- Extensive experience in HVAC design, 5-8 years

- Experience with a variety of building types and HVAC systems.

4. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

- Ability to perform detailed and complex calculations.

- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve system issues.

5. Communication Skills:

- Excellent written and verbal communication for interacting with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.

- Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and documentation.

6. Leadership and Management:

- Proven ability to lead projects and teams effectively.

- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
