-Medical Bylaws
-The job holder shall lead the public health initiatives that focuses on the control and prevention of diseases at the national level; provide nationwide medical care and advice using the medical expertise and contribute to the improvement of public health through ongoing research, promote healthy behaviors and help combat pertinent public health issues as well as lead and develop the team of public health professionals.
-Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Lead the implementation of the prevention, promotion and evaluative aspects of national health service frameworks and strategic plans for public health, and the community strategies, local strategic partnerships.
2. Provide information, consultation and advisory services to combat issues pertaining to public health.
3. Make multi-dimensional recommendations and/or courses of action to carry out control procedures.
4. Provide expert opinion on routine disease reports and investigations; Present findings to the management.
5. Provide recommendations to and collaborates with local health department officials regarding the control of diseases outbreaks based on results of field epidemiology and Ministry of Public Health guidelines.
6. Lead and plan public health initiatives and ensure the programs meet the set goals and objectives.
7. Perform studies on medical conditions or diseases to identify risk factors and problem areas.
8. Streamline public health processes and procedures, knowledge bases, and/or effect new approaches to resolve issues that contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the disease prevention, control and health promotion mission.
9. Lead the formulation of national guidelines for various health programs/services across Qatar.
10. Lead the programs and interventions to help improve the health of certain target groups.
11. Support the development of educational programs that can boost understanding about different health issues.
12. Perform non-clinical duties involving the evaluation of medical research or the identification of causes or sources of disease or disease outbreaks.
13. Leads, plans, assigns and reviews the work of disease investigation and intervention of potential or actual outbreaks.
14. Perform other related duties to meet the ongoing organizational needs.
-Specific Working Condition:
Office based job, might need to attend meetings outside the ministry or in various necessary such as during campaigns, out breaks or events
-Essential Education:
Bachelor's degree in medicine. Masters preferred
-Essential Experience:
Minimum 8 years experience in the public health related field. With Master's degree or Arab Board in community medicine, 4 years of relevant experience can be considered
-Language Skills:
Advanced level in English and Arabic preferred
