JOB DESCRIPTION
The role is responsible for independently administering all respiratory therapy interventions. The role will also be responsible to monitor and supervise junior staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs respiratory care procedures as per established policy and procedures, i.e. if required under the direction of supervisor and physicians.
- Assumes responsibility for operating autonomously, utilizing critical thinking and problem-
solving skills
- Participates in the development and modification of respiratory care management, plans and therapeutic goals for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases in consultation with physicians.
- Assists the physician and Code Team in cardiac / respiratory arrest situations.
- Provides advanced emergency airway care according to approved protocol
- Perform and/or assists with pulmonary and sleep diagnostic procedures as required
- Assesses the availability of sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties and
- Reports shortage to supervisor at the earliest convenience, ordering replenishments when necessary
- Provides troubleshooting of Respiratory Care equipment and highlights any maintenance requirements or breakdowns to supervisor
- Supervising junior staff and ensuring their abidance to going rules and policies as applied and implemented in the Section/Department/Facility
- Managing daily workload allocation.
- Contributes to Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensuring continuous quality improvement measures are in place. Conduct method evaluation/development as per standard policies and procedures as required
- Assists in the planning and developing policies that guide the service implementation process as required
- Delivers and participates in training and education sessions in the safe and secure handling of
drugs and equipment, prescribing (whenever applicable), administration and treatment and management i.e. teaching, induction, peer review, case studies, and clinical presentations
- Participates in department programs/committees, various hospital committees, and staff meetings as required.
- Assists in the education, development, orientation of new employees, and preceptorship of students as assigned
- Performs additional as assigned by the department manager or supervisor

- Ensures implementation of department policies and the annual business plan
- Ensures patient receives the highest standards of care.
- Reduces costs, eliminates waste and assure resources are used in the most effective manner.
- Demonstrates a high level of competency in utilization of equipment
- Manages to practice within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures
- Ensures patient care activity data are documented in accordance with established guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience :-
Required:
- NLT 5 years clinical experience as a respiratory therapist
Desired:
- Active adult, Pediatric and neonatal intensive care involvement
Educational Qualification: Required:
- Bachelors Degree in respiratory therapy or Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (minimum two (2) years course duration)
- Current National License as Respiratory Therapist
