Our client is trading and shipping company based in Dubai is looking for the Senior Tax Advisor. The specialist will oversee the company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting. This role requires a deep understanding of local, regional, and international tax laws affecting trading companies, including VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing, and customs duties. The Senior Tax Advisor will work closely with the finance and legal teams to ensure that all tax obligations are met and to minimize tax risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance: ensure the company complies with all tax regulations (local, regional, and international) for corporate tax, VAT, and other relevant taxes; oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness; liaise with tax authorities for audits, inquiries, and disputes.
- Tax Planning & Advisory: provide strategic tax planning to optimize tax efficiency and reduce liabilities; advise on the tax implications of business transactions, including international trading, import/export, and intercompany transactions; analyze and interpret changes in tax regulations and recommend necessary adjustments.
- Transfer Pricing: ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations across different jurisdictions; prepare and review transfer pricing documentation.
- Customs and Duties: advise on customs duties and other indirect taxes affecting trading activities; assist in import/export tax matters and help optimize the duty structure.
- Risk Management: identify and mitigate tax risks, ensuring that proper documentation and processes are in place; collaborate with external tax advisors and legal counsel to address complex tax issues.
- Tax Reporting: prepare and review tax provisions for financial statements; manage the annual tax reporting process and ensure alignment with financial accounting practices.
- Training & Development: provide guidance and training to finance and operations teams on tax matters; stay updated on tax laws and best practices, implementing improvements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Legal or a related field; a master's degree or professional tax qualification (e.g., CPA, CTA) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in tax advisory roles, preferably in trading and shipping industries.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing, customs duties, and international tax laws.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and attention to detail.
- Languages: English - Advanced, Russian - Advanced.
