Shop Drawing Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and Review Shop Drawings: Create detailed shop drawings for structural, architectural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) components. Review and approve shop drawings submitted by subcontractors to ensure they meet project specifications and standards.

Coordinate with Design and Construction Teams: Work closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers to resolve design discrepancies and ensure shop drawings are feasible and constructible.

Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on all shop drawings to ensure they are accurate, complete, and adhere to industry standards and project requirements.

Documentation: Maintain organized records of all shop drawings, revisions, and approvals. Ensure documentation is accurately updated and accessible for project stakeholders.

Compliance: Ensure all shop drawings comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards. Address any potential compliance issues promptly.

Client Communication: Engage with clients as needed to clarify design intent and address concerns related to shop drawings and project documentation.

Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams during project execution, ensuring shop drawings are accurately implemented on-site.

Required Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design and drafting software.

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing technical drawings.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address design and construction challenges proactively.

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelors degree in architecture or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in creating and reviewing shop drawings for construction projects, preferably within a construction company or architectural firm.
