Position Overview
Reporting to the Signals Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining and refurbishing all the components of the signaling system and associated wayside instrument equipment that is owned by our business. This work will include small installations and respond to breakdowns when required.
Roles and Responsibility
Working in a professional and safe manner to ensure the maximum protection to oneself, co-workers and plant equipment and ensuring compliance to all relevant legislation.
Ensuring that the commitment to safety is maintained and enhanced by taking steps to identify and rectify hazards.
Ensuring production targets and qualities are reached and maintained by providing an up to date and ongoing service and In the event of equipment failure, providing a maintenance service that will ensure quality repairs are carried out efficiently.
Liaises with supervisor on more complicated problems/anomalies and discusses solutions/seeks advice. Reviews end-users requirements, co-ordinates schedules and work execution programs.
Maintains network and associate Signaling systems by troubleshooting and repairing outages, testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation. In the event of equipment failure, providing a maintenance service that will ensure quality repairs are carried out efficiently.
Responsible for the support of Company Safety, environment and Quality policies and programs, and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in Management system documentation, policies, procedures, local documentation, Management System Manual, Safety Manual and other related documents.
Undertakes similar and related tasks and duties as directed by Supervisor.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Academic Qualifications:
School certificate or equivalent
Professional Qualifications:
Driver License (Car and Heavy Vehicle)
Basic experience and qualification of electrical works (Professional)
Experience:
Work under the instruction of the Supervisor Signal and PS
Basic experience and qualification of electrical works
Be capable of learning about and maintaining the ERTMS / ETCS signaling, power supply and control system.
Have good English language skills and a positive appreciation of the health and safety policies of the Operation.
Other Skills:
English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skill
Full driving license
Good planning skills
Analytical skills for problem solving
Ability to work with people from a broad cross section.
