Job Title: Sleep Lab Specialist

About the Role
The Sleep Lab Specialist is responsible for conducting diagnostic sleep studies to assess sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, and other conditions. The specialist operates various sleep monitoring equipment, records patient data, and assists in the interpretation of results under the supervision of a physician or sleep specialist. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients with sleep-related issues
Key Responsibilities:
Sleep Lab
- Perform diagnostic sleep studies (polysomnography) on patients to assess sleep disorders.
- Operate and maintain various types of sleep study equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Record, analyse, and interpret sleep data, providing detailed reports to the supervising physician or sleep specialist.
- Prepare and educate patients regarding sleep study procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
Medical Wards
- Assist in the evaluation of patients in medical wards who may require sleep studies or sleep disorder management.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to provide data and recommendations related to sleep disorders and treatment options.
Home Care
- Coordinate with patients for home-based sleep studies, ensuring proper setup and providing necessary equipment for at-home monitoring.
- Ensure follow-up care and troubleshooting of home-based sleep study equipment.
Outpatient Clinic
- Provide sleep disorder assessments and consultations in an outpatient setting.
- Assist physicians in interpreting test results and guiding treatment decisions for patients with sleep-related issues.
- Educate patients and families about sleep hygiene and the treatment options available for various sleep disorders.
Qualifications:
- Essential Education: Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care / Therapy from a recognized university or college.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in respiratory therapy with sleep lab settings, including hands-on experience conducting sleep studies.
