JOB PURPOSE:
A Specialist Structural Geologist is required to help our client's Exploration to interpret and understand the deep structuration, its periodic reactivation, and its implications for Palaeozoic-Mesozoic Petroleum Systems. A very important part of the role will be the mentoring and skills development of members of the Exploration Team, such that they will be able to take the work forward with confidence. It is expected that the contractor will spend a considerable amount of their time sitting with seismic interpreters guiding the structural interpretation and training the staff. Working closely with the Exploration Team, including the aforementioned mentoring and development of our client's staff, the contractor will conduct and coordinate structural analyses/studies/evaluations to understand the structural evolution of Abu Dhabi. The contractor will contribute to two specific, but overlapping, ongoing studies.
1. A Mesozoic study where faults and structures from the Proterozoic basement to the Neogene are to be studied.
2. A study of the structural and stratigraphic evolution of the Proterozoic-Palaeozoic.
In addition, support to maturation of leads and prospects and ongoing regional/Play studies may be required. All work will be subject to internal Peer Review and must follow our client's Exploration Standards and Guidelines.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Technical Work
Mentoring, coaching and developing our client's Exploration staff through hands-on and support work in 3D seismic interpretation for every structural task.
Coordinate and conduct structural studies.
Review and integrate the results of previous structural studies and identify gaps or additional work that is required (e.g., seismic reprocessing, structural restoration etc.).
Assist and advise in defining, understanding and interpreting the fault basement geometry and dynamics within the limitations of the seismic at depth.
Assist and advise in the interpretation of fault plane 3D geometries and their interplay with each stratigraphic horizon from Triassic to Neogene and Proterozoic and Palaeozoic.
Determine structural style, deformation history, timing of fault generation/reactivation - evolution and stress changes over time from Triassic to Neogene.
Assist in interpretation and mapping of Hormuz salt, including assessment of timing of halokinesis and implications.
Assist and advise in creating fault maps for Abu Dhabi at selected intervals from Basement (Precambrian) to Neogene.
