Overview
In this position, you will work closely with clients to help define and establish geospatial-centric solutions to make them successful, broaden the effect of GIS technology to their business, and help shape the evolution of the platform by identifying new implementation patterns. You will provide solutions and thought leadership while promoting the use of Esri technology to enable customer success and support its development and growth into new domains by working closely with industry experts throughout the company.
This team supports our National Government clients. You will be part of a talented cross-functional team of dynamic and passionate Consultants and Project Managers to deliver solutions that enable our customers to make a difference in communities around the world. You will be part of a delivery team that implements critical technologies that improve quality, reliability and accessibility to data and geospatial capabilities.
The Professional Services division is the consulting and implementation arm of Esri. We break ground in new markets, push the technology envelope and ultimately deliver transformational solutions to high profile clients worldwide. The Professional Services organization is comprised of nearly 1,000 talented business and technical professionals who strive every day to help our users be successful.
Responsibilities
The Senior Consultant is responsible for overseeing the development of programs that support an organization's main objectives. Some of their primary duties include:
- Overseeing complex and strategic GIS programs comprised of multiple component engagements and often multiple stakeholder teams
- Working with both Esri and the customer's senior-level stakeholders to establish program goals and benefits that are aligned with the organizational strategy
- Monitoring the outputs and outcomes of engagements and collaborating with stakeholders to implement and manage changes and interventionsto ensure program benefits are delivered
- Serving as a point of contact for escalation
- Meeting and coordinating with stakeholders to discuss program status and goals, balance diverse stakeholder interests, and address complex program-related issues
- Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle
- Analyzing program risks and create and manage risk mitigation plans
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in a similar position, supporting similar responsibilities
- Professional experience in program management, including but not limited to managing business industry/sector, strategic consulting, technology adoption, and/or in-depth understanding of customer's organization needs and IT implementation patterns
- Ability to consult and engage with executive level leadership
- Extensive experience in project management
- Proven experience leading large scale proposals
- Demonstrated professional presentation skills for internal leadership briefing and external briefing to customers
- Be self-motivated, a proactive problem solver, team-oriented, and creative
- Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to learn
- Thrive in a dynamic cross-functional team environment
- Demonstrated ability to translate a customer's business goals, objectives, and strategies into solutions
- Bachelor's in Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science or related field
Recommended Qualifications
- Prior work experience in a similar field in North American or Europe
- Experience with ArcGIS, location-based services, geo-enabled apps, spatial analysis, or similar geospatial technology
- GIS Project Management experience
- Knowledge of and experience with software engineering and/or robust application development principles and practices
- Experience with current technology implementation patterns, including service-oriented and cloud computing architecture
- Basic understanding of IT Concepts
- Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
- Master's in Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science or related field
