Who You Are:

Lumileds is seeking a highly-qualified Engineer to take responsibility for performing Failure Analysis (FA), LED technology characterization with strong background in semiconductor device, processing and material physics.

Position Summary:

In this role, you will work on LED device and advanced material characterization. You will use your engineering expertise and leadership skills to work seamlessly with technology and product development teams to provide insights based on solid understanding of device and materials physics. In this position you will chart the path for further LED performance improvements for Lumileds products. You will also work on LED products prototyping with new technologies to validate performance improvement.

What You Will Do:

• Basic and advanced LED characterization
• Construction and material characterization of LED technologies (LED chips, packages, phosphors)
• Compile characterization results and provide a recommendation/guidance to the technology and product development teams to further improve LED performance.
• LED products prototype with new technologies and characterization
• Work with device modeling team to validate LED performance improvement
• Work cross-functionally and interface with stakeholders in technology and product development.
• Managing FA request, defining effective FA flow and performing failure analysis, keeping good record of analysis results and report, and timely progress update to requestor for effective problem solving and decision making.
• Compose Technical or FA Report which covers background/ Analysis/ Finding and Potential Root Cause recommendation.
• Develop effective trouble shooting plan and drive improvement activities for better equipment utilization and uptime.
• Drive quality/productivity/cost improvement program in FA Lab.

What You Will Bring (REQUIRED Qualifications):

• Min. 5-6 years experience in Failure Analysis for Degree qualified candidates. For Masters/PHD qualified candidates, min 3-4 years experience in Failure Analysis.
• Experience with materials and device characterization of semiconductors.
• Strong Failure Analysis background and Characterization of optical, electronic and structural properties of semiconductor.
• Experienced in technical or failure analysis report writing.
• Technical problem solving skills.

Education (Minimum Level)

• Bachelor's

Field of Study

• Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical engineering, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands on experience in SEM/EDX, FIB, PEM, Thermal IR, FTIR, Raman Spectroscopy are advantageous.
• Knowledge in software coding will be added advantage.
