The Statutory Accountant is responsible for conducting verifying financial records, analyzing compliance with accounting policies, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards
Job Description
- This role includes examining financial statements, verifying the accuracy of transactions, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions to improve financial integrity.
- Financial Review: Perform review of financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, and payroll to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Compliance Review: Ensure financial statements and reports adhere to established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare audit reports, document findings, and provide actionable insights to improve financial processes.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and assess areas of risk within financial operations, making recommendations to mitigate these risks.
- Collaboration with Departments: Coordinate with the finance team and other departments to resolve discrepancies, address audit findings, and streamline processes.
- Financial Statement Analysis: Analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to identify trends, discrepancies, or potential areas for improvement.
- External Audit Focal point: Lead in preparing documentation and reports for external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to auditor requests. Ensure all statutory financial statement are completed before the due date and free of material adjustment.
- The Statutory Accountant will work closely with the internal audit team, finance department, and external auditors to ensure accurate, timely reporting and concluding audits within given time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, ACCA mandatory.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in audit, accounting, or finance, with a focus on financial audits.
- Proficient in MS Excel, accounting software and data analysis. Experience with Power BI is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and internal control frameworks.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to management.
