JOB SUMMARY (Major functions of the position)
- Must be able to design and analyze Steel Structure elements of buildings and other steel structures.
- Must be able to develop detailed design calculations for the steel structures , all steel to steel and steel to concrete connections and get approval from contractor, client and consultants.
- Must be able to review shop drawings prepared in Tekla and Autocad and manage the modelling and detailing team.
- Must be able to do connection design of complex steel structures for buildings, warehouses, industrial projects using connection software such as idea statica or RAM/LIMCON or be able to generate own excel spreadhseets for connection design.
- Can do quantity take off for steel structures from the Tender/IFC drawings provided.
- Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for construction projects.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to develop structural designs.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing structures and identify potential issues.
- Perform calculations and simulations to determine the strength and stability of structures.
- Review and approve design changes and modifications based on project requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and drafters.
- Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and regulations related to structural design.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely completion of design deliverables.
- Communicate and present design concepts and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Must be well versed in STADD PRO/ETABS software for Steel structure Design.
- Must be familiar with American and British Steel Design Codes.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in structural design engineering.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in structural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SAP
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
