Job Purpose
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for Structural systems Design and Engineering as per project requirements in compliance with all applicable and relevant legislation, standards, codes and Specifications. Execute the projects according to the work scope, schedule, and budget.
What you'll do
- To perform inspections and site surveys as requested and developing preliminary project Scope and Estimations.
- To liaise with third-Party Regulation Authorities ( ASME A.I., Class etc to ensure the comply to the relevant legislation, standards, codes etc.)
- Coordinate activities and resolve issues among Clients, contractors, and other parties to allow construction activities to progress according to plan and finalize mechanical completion.
- Perform and/or Review Structural calculations and Finite Element Analysis, through hand calculations, excel spreadsheet and or with the aid of design software's.
- Lifting Plans/Analyses;
- Select and specify the structural members, Primary Secondary, Platforms and ladders flooring, cladding, Ducting, etc,.
- Prepare and/or review appropriate Bill of Materials/ Material Take off for Procurement, including optimization. Specify paint, and other protective coatings and procedures;
- Prepare and/or review appropriate Fabrication / Erection/ Repair Procedures, including definition of NDE extensions and procedures;
- Evaluate existing tools and methodologies in your area of expertise and make recommendations to the Production/Construction teams.
- Participate in the development of standards, guidelines, instructions policies and procedures on an as-required basis.
- Participate in the reviews and evaluation of the capabilities of Engineering & Construction contractors, suppliers, and project management related service providers.
- To supervise as requested and advise junior staff;
- Manage and maintain Steel sections databases, verify data accuracy, and create reports and queries. Update and maintain engineering documentation and drawings.
- To execute additional task not listed here above but necessary to the Company depending on needs.
Taking ownership of organization's QHSE policy
- Accountable to create a safe working environment, managing risks and reducing exposure to hazards to levels practically achievable and ensuring implementation of QHSE Policy.
- Complying with all IMS Procedures, QA/QC standards as applicable to deliver works safely maintain highest standards of quality with minimal environmental impacts.
- Wear appropriate safety or protective equipment as identified required through risk assessments or as specified, at all times.
- Contributing to the enhancement of quality, health, safety, and environment within the organization.
What we're looking for
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineer/ Civil/ Architecture and or equivalent recognized engineering qualification;
- Literate in MS Office suite;
Minimum Experience:
- 5 years experience as a Structural Design Engineer in Oil & Gas and Power industry & marine offshore
- Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams
- Experience in basic and detail engineering design Structural standards;
- Experience in the support of both small and large-scale capital projects;
Job Specific Skills
- Broad and extensive knowledge of structural design Industry design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria.
- Well verse in static equipment design code and standard such as AISC, UBC codes and ASME STC-1 etc. (Eurocode is Plus) .
- Must have thorough knowledge of design, fabrication and inspections for:
- Steel Structures to support pressure Equipment, Boiler, Ducting
- Pipe Racks
- Ladders and Platforms
- Wind, seismic and Blast verification calculations
- Boiler Duction/Casing and Stacks
- Lifting/ haulage
- Practical experience of Steel structure repair/ alterations, including the development of work scopes and repair options
- Good knowledge of welding details and all the Fabrication/Surface treatment/ inspection processes
- Able to operate specialized engineering software Like: AutoCAD or Similar, STAAD Pro, RAM Connection, ANSYS etc.
- Well versed with third-Party Regulation Authorities design appraisal practices
- Proficient in producing 2D / 3D drawing using CAD software
