Job Description

Duties

  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for contract oversight and of communications operations and maintenance acquisitions across South West Asia.
  • Represents the Brigade for operations and maintenance mission requirements and defends the Brigade's operational budget in two- and three-star General Officer Steering Committee (GOSC) and to four-star commands.
  • Responsible for integrating both short and long range staffing and program requirements, equipment and resources.
  • Serves as the technical expert on all information technology and services management matters in the brigade, to include networks, systems and service, execution of NETOPS and information assurance.
  • Synchronizes the use of interdependent resources across 11 countries, to include civilians, military, and contractors, in order to provide and maintain an acceptable level of communication services and capabilities in an unstable environment.
  • Serves as a reviewing level manager for the Brigade HQ staff, as Deputy to the Brigade Commander, and as Chief, Information Officer (CIO) for the 160th Signal Brigade.
  • Assists in the development and approval of service level management agreements between the Brigade and all levels of its customer base located on more than 27 installations throughout 11 countries.
  • Provides expertise and advice to the Brigade Commander for the operations, management and defense of the OCONUS-Southwest Asia Theater, enhancing mission command for Strategic and Expeditionary Forces through all phases and transitions of war.

  • One year Supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires you to possess/obtain and maintain a valid Official U.S. Passport and Driver's License. Tourist passports will not be accepted for overseas travel.
  • Position is designated as Special-Sensitive therefore the employee must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on an SSBI background investigation for access to Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI).
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty.
  • Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs may be warranted.
  • This position may be subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter, IAW AR 600-85, Army Substance Abuse Program.
  • Satisfactorily complete Pre-employment physical IAW CENTCOM MOD 17 is required as a condition of employment, prior to appointment, reassignment, or transfer, prior to reporting for duty. Subsequent annual physicals are required.

  • Travel to overseas location might require specific immunizations and training/certification IAW USCENTCOM and Department of the Army Personnel Recovery policies.
  • Incumbent is required to be mobile for worldwide assignment as the needs of service dictates.
  • Incumbent of the job will be subject to on-call and irregular work hours.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in development and execution of information technology requirements and the policies, plans, personnel, programs and budgets to support them; coordinating programs, policies, operation and maintenance of strategic communications systems, equipment, and personnel within the organization; monitoring network operations, management and information assurance support for Commanders and agencies; and supervising and directing work of civilian and military information technology specialists, professional engineers, network and information assurance specialists, and support personnel.

  • This is an unaccompanied position with an initial overseas tour of 1 year with possible extensions for a total of 5 years.
