Role Summary
The System Engineer is responsible for the management and execution of the IT infrastructure for the company. He or she will work with the IT Manager/CIO to effectively manage the technical operations and projects to align with the organisation's goals. The position will help create and establish IT policies & procedures. The ideal candidate must have a solid technical background and be able to work as a team. The goal of the position is to ensure IT systems work internally and the proper tools are in place and working for remote. An efficient, productive and problem-free IT environment is the ultimate goal of this position.
Responsibilities
- Help maintain network security. Ensures protection from viruses or other security threats, corrupt data and maintain system backups.
- Help Maintain Active directory/group policies, access rights administration, integrated/advanced authentication.
- Maintains Windows, MacOS and Linux system to ensure servers are stable, OS patches up-to-date and downtime is minimised.
- Maintain Hyper-Converged solution (Nutanix) along with hypervisor VMWare.
- Ensures that all network-systems are functioning properly. Systems include Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Backup Hardware, Core and Access Layer switches, Firewall, Telephony and CCTV/Bio-Metric system and related network systems.
- Help Manage and Support Network Firewall preferably Sonicwall, Site-to-Site VPN, Tunnel, VPN clients.
- Office 365 email Administration, SharePoint Administration, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Administration and Microsoft Azure Administration.
- Support Backup / Recovery with Commvault, AWS and Azure Backups.
- Troubleshoot any kind of hardware and software problems at the end users and make sure that there is no problem in accessing any resource for the users.
- Communicates hardware/software problems with outside support personnel, i.e. vendors and technical support representatives.
- Enforce IT policies and procedures, including managing the IT Asset Register and keep it ip-to-date.
Requirements and Skills
- A can-do attitude and experience in a position where they troubleshoot and fix day-to-day problems with end-users. A technical degree will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of the Network, hardware and software used in the network systems and some acquaintance with the advanced technologies.
- Ability to use the available resources wisely and establish efficient network systems.
- 5+ years working in an IT environment utilising Microsoft Windows. Additional OS's such as Linux SLES, RedHat, Ubuntu is a plus.
- Ideally some of Linux experience with SLES, RHEL/CentOS and familiarity with other Linux architectures including Ubuntu.
- Understanding of SNMP, iptables/firewalld, DNS, Microsoft SQL.
- Must have demonstrated understanding of networking technologies, such as load balancing, firewalls, routing, switching, and TCP/IP.
- Hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Previous experience with MacOS, Windows 10, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and above, Linux SLES, Redhat, Ubuntu, Centos will be an advantage.
