Job Purpose
An exciting role, for a suitably qualified tax professional, to take on a first Tax Manager position covering the Middle East Region. Due to business expansion and increased tax compliance in the region, there are plans to increase the head count in the tax function this year. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with professional practice and/or in-house experience, operating at Manager grade or above, looking to make a move to a growing diversified international group.
Job Dimensions
As the Tax Manager Middle East, you will work closely with local finance and business teams in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE to ensure that they meet all their tax requirements. The Tax Manager Middle East will manage tax compliance filings, deal with & manage relationships with the tax authorities, support the year-end financial reporting process, and provide tax advice and support on various projects. The Tax Manager Middle East will also work closely with the UK based Group Tax team supporting Group risk management, governance and planning initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE local requirement;
Direct Tax Compliance Coordinate the preparation, working alongside local finance & external advisers, and reviewing of annual tax returns ensuring all statutory filing deadlines are met in an accurate and timely manner. Preparation of taxable profit forecasts for instalment payments and ensuring payments are made in a timely manner.
Transfer Pricing Maintenance of all transfer pricing documentation including local files, benchmarking studies, and intercompany agreements. Liaise with external tax advisors on new transfer pricing requirements and tax implications, and ensure that Group Tax are informed of any upcoming changes and relevant legislation
Business relationships Develop, and maintain, positive working relationships with the tax authorities (ZATCA and Federal Tax Authority UAE). Ensure all requests for information/documents are met in a timely fashion and seek to resolve issues raised.
Tax Reporting Preparation of local entity statutory Financial Statement tax note disclosures.
Advisory Provide day to day tax support to the local business teams and finance managers.
Indirect taxes and WHT Review & submit the monthly/quarterly VAT reports and monthly/ quarterly withholding tax reports.
Other Monitor legislative and regulatory law developments across all taxes (Zakat, Company tax, VAT/GST, Withholding taxes), communicate the effects of these developments to Group Tax and local management.
Group Tax requirement;
Tax Planning Support the Group Head of Tax with tax planning and ad hoc international projects in the Middle East region, including corporate restructuring and moving into new territories.
Tax Governance Assist the Head of Tax with the maintenance of tax policy and governance procedures working closely with various stakeholders within the business.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum
- Relevant professional qualification (tax and/or accounting)
- University degree or equivalent
- Experience of tax compliance in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Experience of international transfer pricing requirements
- Knowledge and experience of overseas withholding taxes and double tax treaty applications
Desirable
- Tax experience within an international Group
- Tax experience of UAE regimes
Behavioural Competencies
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Strong communication & presentation skills and ability to convey information with clarity
- IT literate, proficient in MS Office software
- Good attention to detail
