About The Role
The Technical Principal Water leads and manages the Water Sector's discipline resources efficiently,effectively and proactively across all phases of projects to ensure safe, operable and economic design. The role will focus on developing and building on the current team whilst also looking to develop existing and new opportunities.
As well as being a technical leader in the field you will demonstrate strong strategic and commercial acumen, with a focus on delivery of excellence and an ability to develop high profile relationships. You will have significant experience in planning, design and development of discipline services, covering the full spectrum project types.
Additionally, you will be acting as Territory Sector Leader Water, being accountable for delivering the Unit Sector Strategy in the Territory and shall engage with and support the wider Unit/Territory teams in order to provide leadership, direction and mentoring to our people.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Responsible for the monitoring, allocating and controlling discipline resources in a timely manner to ensure project schedule and deliverable issue dates are met.
- Demonstrate technical leadership in the discipline and a focal point for internal & externalstakeholders to liaise with.
- Responsible for engaging with and where appropriate supporting the development of a team in the Global Delivery Centre.
- Ensure that the highest standards of HSE, BMS, STEP and quality processes and procedures are always followed and adhered to
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the market, help capture new opportunities, direct the bid process liaising with development teams and relevant location DGM's to ensure we produce powerful, attractive, compliant and competitive proposals
- Participate and contribute to the effectiveness of the Unit's Practice network
Winning work
- Support Unit Sector Leaders in the development and implementation of the Sector Strategy
- Support Account Leaders to grow and nurture external relationships with key clients.
- Support Project Principals and Managers to successfully win work and deliver projects.
- Effective monitoring of Business Development activities, proposal spends, Win / Capture rates.
Project Management & commercial leadership
- Responsible for project teams delivering to budgetary targets i.e. revenue and project profit.
- Support Project Principals, managing on-going projects, change orders, stakeholder management and working capital.
- Support Divisional General Manager in the effective management of staffing requirements within their Sector with support from Project Principals, Practice Leaders, and discipline leads / team resource managers.
- Escalate emerging risks / opportunities on projects.
Building the team
- Accountable for providing leadership, direction and mentoring to our people.
- Support the embedment of Graduates and new starters into their respective teams.
- Support Practice Leaders in implementing best practice / training plans, which help the business become more efficient.
- Development of a strong team high performing team, with strategic recruitment and succession plans.
Candidate specifications
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline preferably professional chartered status
- Extensive years of experience and significant experience operating at this level
- Recognition within the industry as an innovator and technical leader
- Proven track record in growing and developing a regional team
- Proven negotiation and influencing skills at an Executive level
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
- Previous experience in managing and delivering technical excellence into significant projects,understanding and managing budgets, resources and a strong commercial acumen
- Middle East experience is required
