Fearnleys AS is a major international shipbroking company providing chartering, sale & purchase, and newbuilding contracting services. In addition to our main office in Oslo, we provide shipping services from 13 offices world-wide. The company is a part of the Astrup Fearnley group which is engaged in financial services, offshore rig & supply vessel services, and energy broking. The group employs about 400 personnel in 13 offices worldwide.

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in the role of a Trainee/ Junior Dry Cargo Shipbroker based in our Dubai Office.

This role will offer mentorship by one of our best brokers on our Dry Cargo team.

As a Trainee/ Junior Dry Cargo Shipbroker, your key responsibilities will be:

• You will start of supporting day-to-day activities of the Broker(s) and increase your knowledge and capabilities build.
• Collecting and coordinating the information flow and reports as well as gathering market intelligence.
• Establishing relationships, existing and new
• You shall, later, be given clients to cover and business development opportunities to pursue.

Qualities required for this role:

• An education degree ideally majoring in Maritime or Shipping, but this is not essential for someone with prior experience in the industry.
• Basic knowledge of shipping and/ or dry cargo will be an advantage, prior experience will be a bonus.
• Confident and able to handle pressure
• Self-disciplined, pro-active & competitive
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Mature and trustworthy
• Demonstrate commitment & dedication

Setting the expectations:

• The job will require work outside of normal hours since the shipping market never sleeps.
• A large degree of responsibility and trust will be placed in you so you will have to be self-driven and hungry.
