Job Description

Design, implement, and evaluate training programs on Dredging, Reclamation, and related Marine/Construction activities for NMDC employees, especially those in the Dredging Business Unit. These programs will enhance individual skills, knowledge, and performance, ultimately contributing to the achievement of our strategic goals.

Needs Assessment and Strategy:

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify individual and organizational training requirements.
  • Align training strategies with Dredging Business units objectives and employee development goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training curriculum for the NMDC Dredging Academy.
  • Program Development and Delivery:
  • Design and develop engaging and effective training programs for Dredging & Reclamation for different audiences.
  • Training materials will include, but are not limited to:

Working principles of various types of dredgers & key components

Soil Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Pumps & Drives

Production Analysis, Pipelines, Survey, Land reclamation

Nautical Knowledge and Project Management, QHSE etc.

  • Source and manage external training providers (e.g., from other departments) as needed.
  • Deliver training sessions, coaching, and mentoring to all new employees (DSIs and PEs).
  • Effectively utilize CSD and TSHD Simulators available at the Academy for the trainees.

Implementation and Management:

  • Manage the training budget and resources effectively.
  • Develop and implement learning technologies and platforms.
  • Oversee the logistics and delivery of training programs.
  • Maintain training records and course materials up to date.

Evaluation and Improvement:

  • Conduct ongoing training program evaluations to measure effectiveness and impact.
  • Analyze data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.
  • Acquire key knowledge from Project Innovations and Lessons Learned from various projects within NMDC and the dredging industry. Integrate this knowledge into the organization's learning.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Partner with stakeholders across departments to ensure alignment of training programs with business needs.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.
  • Build and manage relationships with key training partners and the trainees for further follow-up on their on-the-job training and feedback.

Effective Utilization of CSD & TSHD Simulators:

  • Maximize the use of the available CSD & TSHD Simulators, which provide a safe and controlled environment for trainees to learn without real-world consequences.
  • Facilitate repetitive practice in a simulated environment to allow trainees to hone their skills, improve reaction times, and develop better decision-making abilities, leading to improved performance and efficiency in the real world.

Educational Qualifications & Certifications

Masters degree in engineering (Mechanical, Marine Engineering or equivalent) with 3 Years experience Or bachelors degree in engineering with at least 5 years of Experience in Dredging Industry

Core Competence:

  • In depth understanding of dredging processes/use of dredging equipment/ land reclamation/ pipelines, cutter head types, pick points/ anchors, wear and tear concepts etc
  • Understanding of dredging methodologies, sand field processes
  • Ability to understand survey-results (Calculation, heights, benchmarks, charts, tolerances, etc.)
