Responsibilities:
Designing and developing electrical systems for rail projects, including traction power systems, overhead catenary systems (OCS), signaling and communication systems, and lighting systems.
Conducting feasibility studies and evaluating technical requirements to determine optimal system designs.
Performing calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., AREMA, IEEE).
Managing electrical engineering aspects of rail projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and architects, to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.
Overseeing procurement activities related to electrical equipment and materials.
Ensuring design-build and installations adhere to relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, FRA regulations).
Addressing environmental and sustainability considerations in electrical system designs.
Developing and executing testing protocols to validate electrical systems performance and functionality.
Providing technical support during system commissioning and integration phases.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
Keeping abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in rail electrical engineering.
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of (15 to 20) years experience in major infrastructure projects preferably in the railway industry for building technologies with emphasis on maintenance facilities as part of a supervision or design team.
Should have completed at least one (1) design-build transit project within the last 10 years.
Hold a professional registration in engineering.
Have work experience in Saudi Arabia or another GCC country.
Strong experience in ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of electrical systems that support modern rail infrastructure.
In-depth knowledge in electrical design principles, power distribution and control systems.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well organization and planning skills.
Ability to work in a cooperative team environment, with stakeholders from very different fields.
Excellent communication skills fluent in Arabic and English, reading, writing, and speaking.
User skills in MS Office applications including AUTOCAD, ETAP, or similar.
Driving license required to drive to site or to technical meetings with the client representative.
Preferred nationality Saudi.
