Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for rail vehicles, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Conduct feasibility studies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall rail projects.
Provide technical guidance and expertise in areas such as HVAC systems, plumbing, drainages, propulsion systems, braking systems, and other mechanical subsystems specific to rail vehicles.
Perform detailed calculations, simulations, and analyses to optimize design parameters for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
Develop test plans and protocols for mechanical systems, oversee testing procedures, and analyze test results to validate performance and safety.
Implement improvements and modifications based on test outcomes and feedback from field operations.
Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, reports, drawings, and maintenance manuals, adhering to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Stay updated with advancements in rail technology and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
Developing and executing testing protocols to validate mechanical systems performance and functionality.
Providing technical support during system commissioning and integration phases.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
Keeping abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in rail mechanical engineering.Qualifications:
Masters degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of (15 to 20) years experience in major infrastructure projects preferably in the railway industry including HVAC, Plumbing and Drainage with emphasis on maintenance facilities as part of a supervision or design team.
Should have completed at least one design-build transit project within the last 10 years.
Hold a professional registration in engineering.
Have work experience in Saudi Arabia or another GCC country.
In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FRA, AAR, EN).
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well organization and planning skills.
Ability to work in a cooperative team environment, with stakeholders from very different fields.
Excellent communication skills fluent in Arabic and English, reading, writing and speaking.
User skills in MS Office applications including AUTOCAD, SolidWorks and simulation tools (e.g. ANSYS, MATLAB).
Driving license required to drive to site or to technical meetings with the client representative.
Preferred nationality Saudi.
