Role Overview
The Veterinary Technician's primary responsibility is to draw blood from animals, particularly camels, and deliver the samples to the laboratory for analysis. This part-time, project-based role involves working on a case-by-case basis and traveling to different locations within Riyadh.
Job Responsibilities
Blood Collection:
- Draw blood from animals, with a focus on camels, for diagnostic and research purposes
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of blood samples to maintain sample integrity
- Transport blood samples to the designated laboratory promptly and safely
Animal Handling:
- Safely and humanely handle and restrain animals during blood collection procedures
- Provide care and reassurance to animals to minimize stress during procedures
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all blood collection procedures and samples
- Document any observations or issues encountered during the blood collection process
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Arabian regulations and professional standards in veterinary care
- Follow proper biosecurity measures to prevent contamination and spread of diseases
Requirements
Experience, Qualifications, and core skills
- Bachelor's degree Veterinary Technology or a related field
- License Practice from the Saudi Veterinary Medical Society
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
