Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key client is working together to source an experienced and qualified Workshop Manager for their team in Oman.
The Responsibilities
Workshop Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and oversee workshop operations, including scheduling, repair, and maintenance of mining equipment.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Monitor workshop productivity, optimize workflows, and minimize equipment downtime.
- Manage day-to-day workshop activities, including preventive and corrective maintenance, for Sandvik and Volvo equipment used in underground mining.
- Develop and enforce safety and operational policies specific to underground mining conditions.
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of skilled technicians, fostering a safety-oriented culture.
- Conduct training sessions focused on maintenance techniques for underground equipment, ensuring team members are equipped with necessary skills.
- Conduct performance reviews, set team goals, and provide development opportunities for workshop staff.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulations, particularly for underground mining operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards within the workshop and surrounding areas.
- Implement and enforce workshop safety protocols and conduct periodic safety training for all team members.
Inventory and Resource Management
- Manage spare parts inventory specific to Sandvik and Volvo underground equipment, ensuring critical components are always available.
- Establish relationships with suppliers for sourcing high-quality parts and equipment at competitive prices.
- Maintain accurate records of parts usage, repairs, and maintenance activities to improve cost control and minimize delays.
The Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in workshop management, with a strong background in Sandvik and Volvo machinery maintenance for underground mining.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on underground equipment.
