Job Description
Plan and prepare annual budget for the department and facilities, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions. Follow up closely during implementation.
- Ensure Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, procedures and regulations are in place & followed and all necessary records are kept.
- To develop, implement and maintain effective policies, procedures, reporting system and administrative system to the workshop activities.
- Develop and implement systems to record, file and store information pertaining to workshop jobs.
- Forecasts goals and objectives for the workshop and strives to meet them.
- Monitors and controls the workshop performance using appropriate reports, tracking systems & KPIs.
- Ensure that the department is adequately staffed to achieve objectives, and that technicians are aware of procedures for using new products, tools and equipment.
- Review and approve maintenance schedule, manpower plans and documentation of all maintenance activities.
- Responsible for job allocation, task prioritization and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling and labor allocation for day to day operations.
- Review & approve work orders & job cards to ensure that all actions have been documented according to Service Workshop policies and procedures.
- Ensure parts are ordered for each job in a timely manner and follows up on parts orders with the store to ensure availability.
- Supervise the workshop team and Provide technical guidance to them to ensure the Team meets all performance measures agreed.
- Inspect the quality of a technician repairs before the release of vehicles.
- Ensure work is delivered to the required standard, in the required time and in the most efficient manner.
- Regularly report progress on each job and evaluate the impact of work delays, interruptions or changes in plans to develop appropriate course of actions and communicate them to the operations manager.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Ensure adequate maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials in the Service Area.
Skills
- HGV maintenance background, preferably with vehicle mechanical engineering certificate.
- HSE knowledge, preferable with certificates.
- Ability to lead a team of technicians & assistants.
- Good analytical skills.
- Leads by KPIs.
- Good communication skills
- Strong personality, proactive, problem solving, transparency & adaptability.
- Experience in handling Heavy Goods Vehicles workshop.
